I pratice montage and writing in multiple instances and configurations.
Since 2005, I work as film editor and writer with filmmakers and visual artists on experimental fictions, documentaries, hybrid films, videos, and video installations shown in international film festivals and exhibited in art spaces.
From 2008 to 2018, I was a guest lecturer at Saint-Joseph University, the Lebanese American University, and Antonine University. Since 2015, I share my experience through workshops and public interventions in collaboration with art institutions and university programs. In 2024, I initiated the online workshop Composing with Fragments, in collaboration with the literary journal Rusted Radishes. I give editing and artistic consultations. I am one of the editing mentors for Doha Film Institute’s First Cut Lab.
I am interested in collaborative modes of creation. Since 2020, I have collaborated with filmmaker, visual artist and researcher Mira Adoumier, and filmmaker and film programmer Nour Ouayda under The Camelia Committee on the collective exhibition At the Edge of the Forest, a Garden, the collective performance one sea, three seas, and Notes on Collectivity, a series of conversations around collective work. The Camelia Committee continue to collaborate on films (Red Solaris I by Mira Adoumier & Nour Ouayda), video installations (Even the Oracle Cannot Avert Fate | we return to the fog by Mira Adoumier & Carine Doumit) and film programs (A Thousand Landscapes, A Thousand Bodies by Mira Adoumier & Nour Ouayda), among other projects.
I am interested in the relations between literature and the moving image, which I explore in short texts, publications and video works. In 2021, I met Sofía Velázquez (Peru) with whom I imagined the epistolary project solas y juntas. Linked through a constellation of letters and video letters, we explore modes of writing and editing together in spite of the distance.
I was an artist in residence at the Arsenal Archives in Berlin, Germany (2019), Beirut Art Center (2020), Akademie der Kunst in Köln, Germany (2021), MacDowell in New Hampshire, USA (2022 and 2024), Providenza in Corsica (2024), the Bogliasco Center in Italy (2025) and Facteur de ciel in Grasse, France (2026).
